Inspiration and new vision electronics

A lot of you have been diving the Inspiration classic for some time now. What is everyone's feelings on the new vision electronics? Have they function as well as expected so far?

Hey Dennis welcome to the site. Have you had any issues with the new electronics yet?

No problems with anything on the rebreather yet. I'm hopping to make it 20hrs on the unit by the end of the weekend (I have 18 now :-) )

Well that was untill today. The unit was unable to maintain the low setpoint on the surface prior to the dive. The solenoid would fire and bring the level up to .7 but then all three O2 sensors recorded a rapid drop in O2 level. There was no leaks in the system as after a short period of time the counter lungs would be full and the be venting through the dump valve even when in predive setting.

I turned the unit off and then on again and got a dive start error because battery one dropped to it's low point. I ended up moving B2 to B1 and putting a new battery in B2 and that seems to have solved the problem.

The next dive went with no problems at all (no alarms at all, setpoints were maintained correctly).

Thoughts ? Comments ?

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

Warning: there is a manufacturing fault in the AP94 sintered filters fitted to the Evolution 1st stages. There is a risk of small particles becoming detached from the filter and inherent risk of an Oxygen fire.

APD has issued replacement filters to all owners of EVO rebreathers. CHANGE THIS FILTER IMMEDIATELY.

If you have not received these replacement parts please contact Silent Diving Systems immediately.

If you are not comfortable doing this on your own please ship both 1st stages and replacement parts to us and we will do this free of charge.

Bill asked if I would drop in and let everyone know about a problem I had with the VISION this summer and again last weekend.

The dive in question was a no decompression dive to 70’. It started out well and at around minute 12 of the dive I got a low battery warning. At the same time I looked at the hand set and saw nothing but lines and black on the screen. The screen would come in and out as I tried to manually switch to C2 but every time I auctioned a button the screen would go blank (because the back light would use more of the voltage I assume??) after a few attempts to manually switch to C2 the hand set went completely blank and I was left with only the HUD. I ascended to 20’ adding O2 manually using the HUD to keep the PO2 near the set point and when I got a steady red light on the HUD I went OC. At this point the hand set came back on and I was able to manually switch to C2 and all was good except the temp stick was not registering so I went back on the loop. Once C2 was promoted to master I was able to turn on C1 which stayed as the slave for the duration of the dive. When you look at the file it shows that the dive was only 13 minutes long and the rest of the dive was not recorded even though I was in the water for another 12 min longer than the file shows. My question is why did the system not automatically switch to battery 2 when a low battery was indicated and how can I prevent this from reoccurring?
